OCRA-FUNDED POSTDOCTORAL POSITION - CLOSED

A research fellowship application process (assegno di ricerca, category Post-Doc) will be opened to work on the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA)-funded Collaborative Research Development Grant in the laboratory of Dr Luca Palazzo at the Institute of Experimental Endocrinology and Oncology (IEOS), National Research Council (CNR) of Italy, Naples. This project will be developed in close collaboration with laboratories at the University of Oxford (United Kingdom) and Mayo Clinic (USA).

The CNR is the top and largest public research institution in Italy. The IEOS is an internationally renowned institution intersecting translational and basic research to determine the molecular basis of cancer. The IEOS is located within the Medical campus of the University of Naples “Federico II” and it is highly integrated with other CNR institutes in Naples, as well as with the Faculties of Medicine, Biotechnology, and Biology of the University of Naples “Federico II”. The IEOS provides access to state-of-the-art equipment, including imaging, cytometry, animal house as well as interaction with the clinical divisions of the University of Naples “Federico II” and of city Hospitals.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly motivated fellow working on the dissection of the molecular basis of DNA repair processes regulated by poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation in the context of ovarian cancer.

The post holder will have a PhD/DPhil (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences, Molecular Medicine, Biotechnology or related disciplines. Experience and knowledge of DNA repair and DNA replication is desirable.

He/she will have extensive experience in sterile culture of cancer cells. Demonstrable knowledge of main molecular and cell biology techniques, including cell imaging, DNA cloning, PCR, generation of CRISPR-Cas9 targeting constructs, site-directed mutagenesis, lentiviral inducible vectors, and transfection techniques is required. Experience in flow cytometry, clonogenic assays, and protein biochemistry is desirable but not essential. His/her skills should be demonstrated by excellent track-record of publications in respected journals in the field.
